Stripe Connect (taking payments)
Scalp Boss uses Stripe to handle every payment. This page explains why, how to connect it, and what to expect.
Why Stripe
When a client pays a deposit or full prepay on your booking page, the money goes directly into your Stripe account — not into Scalp Boss's account first. That means:
- Funds land in your bank on Stripe's normal schedule (usually 2 business days).
- Refunds go through your Stripe dashboard, on your terms.
- Tax reporting (1099-K, etc.) is between you and Stripe, not us.
- If Scalp Boss ever went away tomorrow, your customer records and payment history stay with you in Stripe.
Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 per card payment. Scalp Boss doesn't take a cut on top of that.
Connecting your account
Settings → Payments → Connect Stripe. Click the button and follow Stripe's setup. You'll need:
- Your legal business name and EIN (or SSN if you operate as a sole proprietor).
- Your bank account routing + account number for payouts.
- A government ID for the business owner (Stripe verifies this).
The whole thing usually takes 10–15 minutes. Stripe may ask you to verify a few extra things if your business type is new to them.
Once you're connected
Three deposit modes appear in Settings → Payments → Deposits:
- None — clients book without paying. They pay in person when they arrive.
- Percent — clients pay a percentage of the service price as a deposit (e.g., 25%) when they book. The remainder is owed in person.
- Full prepay — clients pay the full service price upfront. Nothing owed in person.
You can change deposit mode any time. New bookings use the new mode; existing bookings keep their original rule.
Refunds and cancellations
Cancellations from your dashboard automatically void any unpaid balance. Deposit refunds happen in your Stripe dashboard — Scalp Boss doesn't process refunds directly. This is by design: it puts you fully in control of when and whether to refund.
When the money lands
Stripe's default payout schedule is 2 business days from the charge. Your first payout takes ~7 business days because Stripe is establishing the account. After that, payouts are automatic and continuous.
You can change payout schedule (or pause it) any time in your Stripe dashboard.
